Install Dan Menggunakan Font Di Ubuntu 10.10

Untuk menginstall Font di Ubuntu ada dua cara, yang pertama adalah dengan menginstall Font yang sudah tersedia di repository. Caranya buka Ubuntu Software Center pilih Get Software > Font. Pilih font yang dikehendaki. Bagi designer Waroeng Ubuntu sarankan untuk menginstall "ubuntustudio-font-meta", karena Ubuntu Studio memiliki banyak sekali koleksi font (sekitar 272 MB download). Bila tidak menemukan "ubuntustudio-font-meta" di USC cari di Synaptic Package Manager.

Cara kedua untuk menginstall Font adalah dengan mendownload berbagai jenis font di internet, misalnya di dafont.com. Sebelum membahas lebih jauh langkah kedua ini, install dahulu Font Manager di Ubuntu Software Center. Lalu buka melalui Applications > Graphic > Font Manager. Untuk mengetahui font yang telah terinstall di sistem Ubuntu, dari Font Manager > Category > System.

Install Font Hasil Download Di Ubuntu

Font Porcelain dapat di download di sini. Category > User, untuk melihat font hasil download
Setelah menginstall Font Manager dan hendak menginstall font hasil download di dafont.com misalnya. Caranya adalah buka Home Folder > View > Show Hidden Files, kemudian copy dan paste font hasil downloads di folder .fonts. Hasilnya dapat dilihat Font Manager > Category > User.

Install Font Agar Semua User Dapat Menggunakan

Untuk menginstall Font agar semua user dapat menggunakannya, maka download file font dan ekstrak di direktori /usr/share/fonts. Caranya tekan ALT+F2 lalu ketik:

gksu nautilus /usr/share/fonts

Buat Folder baru, misalnya dengan nama "Custom Font"

Buat folder baru misalnya dengan nama Custom Font. Lalu copy-paste file font di folder tersebut. Selesai dan sekarang kita dapat menggunakan "custom font" untuk semua user.
